Frequently Asked Questions

To actively promote the use of the Basque language in socio-economic spaces by fostering community and building and sharing innovative tools, resources, and projects.

It is a tool that helps identify, recognize, and guide companies, shops, and all types of entities working toward the goal of increasing the use of Basque in the socio-economic field. It is managed by the Bai Euskarari Association, alongside other initiatives (Lansarean, Enpresarean, etc.), to make an impact in the socio-economic sphere and boost the use of the Basque language.

Through the certificate’s logo, customers can know if they will be attended to in Basque at a company, shop, or association; if they will be provided with service in Basque; if there is the capacity to work in Basque; or if the entity is on its way to providing services in Basque. The 3 levels of the certificate reveal an entity’s linguistic situation: Service and Work in Basque, Service in Basque, or On the Way.

An entity or company that serves customers in Basque reflects competitiveness and respect for the customer, which clients truly appreciate. Customers often prefer to interact in their native language when acquiring a service or product.

Therefore, an entity that wants to offer quality and remain competitive, or a company that wants to attract and build loyalty among customers, must adapt to the customer’s linguistic needs.

Basque is a strategic and innovative asset for any type of entity. The Basque language and the Bai Euskarari certificate bring benefits to all entities:

  • It adds value to the entity.

  • It increases the competitiveness of entities.

  • It responds to demand with professionalism.

  • It conveys closeness and trust.

  • It fosters internal motivation, builds loyalty, and ensures people’s satisfaction.

  • It boosts the entity’s social responsibility.

  • It improves the entity’s image and increases credibility with customers.

  • Loyalty to the entity or company is increased, and motivation is strengthened. When Basque-speaking employees feel that the entity makes an effort to integrate Basque, they feel more satisfied, engaged, and committed.

  • Visibility: Attract Basque-speaking consumers.
  • Advertising: Inclusion in the map of certified entities.
  • Networking: Access to the community…
  • Points in public administration procurement tenders.
  • A progressive path: On the Way > Service in Basque > Service and Work in Basque.

Here is what our entities have to say:

  • ABB-Niessen (Oiartzun): “The Certificate gives importance to Basque within the company, and thanks to the association, we work on many areas included in our action plan.”

  • Artis Kreativa (Gasteiz): “Using Basque gives us added value. People don’t expect it. We say our first word in Basque, and then they start speaking in Basque.”

  • Bordatxo jatetxea (Deustu, Bilbo): “Customers appreciate having service in Basque, both locals and visitors. Foreigners also value seeing and hearing Basque. The recognition from our customers encourages us to keep going.”

  • Enargia (Azkaine): “The Certificate shows that we use Basque. It is a way to let Basque speakers know they can request their electricity service in Basque, making it a way to keep the language alive and spread the word.”

  • Fideslan (Donostia eta Ondarroa): “We obtained the Bai Euskarari Certificate, first of all, to show that it is also possible in our sector; secondly, to gain the advantages of Bai Euskarari’s experience and knowledge in integrating Basque into the working world; and finally, to serve as a showcase for companies that want to receive services in Basque.”

  • Innobasque (Zamudio): “Bai Euskarari brings us closer to the goal of offering all of Innobasque’s services in the language requested by our stakeholders.”

  • Laida Aguerretche-Colina psikologo-psikoterapeuta (Ziburu): “There are very few of us Basque-speaking psychologists in private practice in the Northern Basque Country, so I find it even more important to make it clear that I work in Basque. I hope the Certificate helps with that.”
